Secret Ingredients: The New Yorker Book of Food and Drink

Amazon

HTH NFC. I might’ve seen this through my random surfing.

Synopsis After staring at the dictionary for a moment, it’s not clear to me that ‘synopsis’ is quite the right word that I’m looking for. Yet it is clear that Secret Ingredients is a collection of fiction, non-fiction and what not (cartoons too, for example) concernng food and (more importantly) drink from the pages of the New Yorker, a minor rag that’s been around since the turn of the 21st century.

Thoughts This is not an easy book to read at one go, or even several sittings. At nearly 600 pages, 60 essays, and uncounted cartoons, covering a variety of topics and forms, it’s a smorgasbord that demands one’s undivided attention, or daily sampling. Given my constraints, the former was impossible; the latter limited to 21 days.

I managed to read the entire humour section; there were a few amusing pieces. And that’s just about all I have to say, unfortunately. I’m going to rehold this book at some point, and read an essay before bedtime.
